A 4wd Transit, so next time we end up in mud we don't have to lay down a brick track to get us out.

I'd really like a 110 Defender Station Wagon or a big Land Cruiser. Maybe one of those Mitsubishi L200 trucks or a Toyota Hilux (but not the new shapes - they look rubbish)

Hate the new hilux shape, but I'd have a navara 3 litre.

I quite like the thought of driving about in an AC Cobra at the weekends and possibly a nice top of the range Range Rover during the week.

What I would really like doesn't exist. I would like a 2.5 or 2.8 Turbo diesel peugeot 4X4 5 door.

That would cost you the price of a small house to fill up on gas in the UK GD. I drove round New England in a 4 liitre Mustang a couple of years back and ciouldn't believe the price of fuel compared to over here.
Oh yes, welcome to the forum by the way

for the last year my oppo at work and myself have been doing some contract work in Ireland - and need a 4x4 pickup - the peope we are working for keep ordering differdent makes, models and ages... I recon that in another year we will be able to write a definitive comparison of on/off road perforormance - so far we like Ford - although have not found out how to disable the annoying alarms for a) you have left the keys in the ignition and not locked the doors [relevant to inner city but not when you are working in the middle of nowhere ] b) ditto for you have not put your seat belt on [rough track at 10mph and five gates to open!]
big non fan of electric 4wd selection - have had this fail to select 4wd on older models and had to be pulled out by a JCB.
Definition of a good car - big enough to get all my crap inside - capable of towing trailer/boat or getting dingy on roof. decent ground clearance, 4wd but still OK to drive on roads.
Not really found the answer yet - but Subaru Forester that I currently drive is not bad.

Well I've got a 110 defender and a Range Rover so thats the 4x4/shoot vehicles covered anyway.
I guess other than that it would be a Maserati Ghibli.....or Anston Martin Lagonda.

2.5 or 2.8? Why? The 2.0 Td will pull the moon in if you could get a line on it..........and a set of skinny 165's would give you more than enough grip even in snow or mud! In fact, especially in snow or mud! Skinny tyres are actually far better as they cut through all the surface rubbish & hit the base layer better than wide low profile tyres [/i]
