I've been hearing this on the news all day.
It is really laughable in this day and age, that this has been allowed to happen. So what that the data is encrypted - whats the betting its only data encryted and not finance and banking encryption....
As one of the interviewees said - sorry forgotten his name but this grade of encryption can be hacked.
And also taking into account names addresses, bank account details in many cases.....

Utter incompetence, and another example of how this country's major authorities have become the laughing-stock of Europe! Why the hell were these discs allowed to be sent through the Royal Mail is beyond belief! 25million individuals details!!??
At the very least, these items should have been couriered under escort. i can't imagine how anyone can maintain any faith in how Britain is run these days

What sort of idiot sends something as important as this through normal post anyway?? It wasn't registered or even insured - they simply slapped a stamp on it.

Hell make it worthwhile - 14 kids at least
I think they have the records they have just 'lost' the private information details - they have it on record I am sure - but lost as in potentially in the wrong hands lost.......
Personal details like family names, address, bank account details etc

Most likely, they have been doing it this way for years and its only become a big issue now because one such parcel went astray

How can anyone have so little idea of the sheer volume of traffic through a hub on a nightly basis? Is it so inconceivable that some go astray - misrouted, sent to the wrong address, simply lost, damaged irretievably...the list is endless...........

And the fact they are now searching TNT depots defies thought
