Zimbabwe...........What an earth is going to happen in Zimbabwe now that the main opposition party has pulled out of the running in the presidential race? The world has to sit idly by and watch as a once affluent country is slowly being raped by the dictator who misrules it. What can the world's leaders do? They can't invade (how long before Iraq is mentioned?  ) and they can't impose sanctions because it would further hurt the citizens of Zimbabwe. All we can hear is people like Bush and Brown condemning the actions of Robert Mugabe.

They need to strike oil, then maybe we'd jump in and take over for them. 'cos, hey, look at what a great job we're doing every where else.
Joking aside Graham, it really is a terrible, unthinkable shame.

Considering it was supposed to be the birthplace of humanity it's about time they tried to catch up with all the civilisations that at one time or another led the world. Egypt being the only African Nation to get anywhere.
Apart from being Colonies of one European country or another they have not advanced one iota since they settled down in mud huts and planted a few seeds. They threw us out, now let them get on with it. Why should we try to turn the clock back and interfere. You threw all the whites, the ones with the know how to run things, out. Not of our making, got your independence, so you made your mud hut, you live in it.

Know what Bazzer ? - There's something in what you say. 
First they were tribal hunter gatherers, living in tribes with strongest = chief & strict pecking orders.
Then they were captured & taken as slaves by the English among others.
Then we "Took over" with gunboat diplomacy, pinched the land & set them to work for the aggrandisement of "Our" empire.
Then we stopoped shooting them & beating them up - gave them a bit of freedom - told them to vote - then the newly appointed Chieftan pinched the land back & gave it to his cronies, who help him keep the masses under control by beating the others up & ruling by fear - with an iron hand.
A lot like the Saxon / Norman invasions of Britain ( & how it likely would have been if the Germans beat us last time )
A lot like the Brits ruling Africa.
I doubt really whether this Tsvangirai bloke would have turned out That Much different really.  ( I seem to remember Mugabi was greatly respected when he First got Power )
I'm not sure this voting business is all it's cracked up to be you know - Can you expect tribal people, used to being ruled, independent by taking away their leaders & expect them to be a democracy - or will they look for another "forceful" leader.
It's a bit like taking away the upper & middle classes in this country & letting the Chav estates rule the country - would they settle down to peaceful democratic voting - or would the criminals & drug barons rule by force ?
However it makes good news & the politicians know it keeps our minds off the issues which affect us closely & we COULD do something about
